The best snack starts in the field
Potatoes were cultivated more than seven thousand years ago by the Incas and originated in the current territory of Bolivia and Peru. Today, potatoes inspire several product lines from PepsiCo, one of the world’s leading producers of potato chips and other snacks.
More than 300 million tons of potatoes are harvested every year in the world. Of this, some 3.5 million tons come from Brazil. Due to the rising demand for potatoes in Brazil, PepsiCo and Bayer have been working together to train potato farmers in good agricultural practices and support them in meeting our own as well as international quality standards – while also ensuring that this development is sustainable, for both the environment and the farmers’ communities.
