Collaboration is key to strengthening global food security
Smallholder farmers play a crucial role in strengthening food security around the globe. Having only limited access to modern agricultural tools and techniques, however, has prevented smallholders from reaching their full farming potential.
Smallholder farmers use 12% of the world's agricultural land – yet they produce 80% of the food consumed in Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. That’s why productivity and quality of their harvest is so critical to the food security of millions of families and communities. A wide range of public and private initiatives are working to improve access to farming tools and latest technologies. In order to really support smallholder farmers, however, we must match the delivery of modern tools with the effective sharing of knowledge – and this is something no one organization can achieve alone.
